A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle

What a very thought provoking book, not just of the spiritual nature but also about science and the possibilities of time travel. For those of you who believe and ponder how every object and energy has a frequency this book may get your wheels spinning quickly as the author talks about tesseract functions (a wormhole, four-dimensional structure similar to a three-dimensional cube, or a two-dimensional square, a portal from one area of space to another which is possible through the bending of the structure of the space-time continuum.) If you want a visual of a tesseract example click here.
I enjoyed the main characters. The story is exciting and contains positive messages about individuality, friendship, and courage. It also contains human struggles of growing up, searching for identity and the influences of evil, so I would not recommend it for the very young (under the age of 12).
Overall it was a good read but I gave this book a lower mark because it did contain a lot of sci-fi, which is not my favorite category in my books. Some of the creatures were too strange for me. Here is the book review from kidz world which gives a bit more detail about the story of the book.
